UMPIRE DRESS CODE AND PLAYING EQUIPMENT SOFTBALL CANADA - UNIFORM CHECKLIST

 

 Standard - Powder blue crested Softball Canada mesh shirt, short sleeves – may be worn in combination with either blue or grey pants

 Alternate - Navy blue crested Softball Canada mesh shirt, short sleeves – alternate shirt to be worn only in combination with grey pants

 Navy blue (standard) or grey (alternate) pants, neatly pressed (plate (FP) or bases (FP/SP)).

 Official crested Softball Canada umpire cap

 Crested Softball Canada wind shirt or ¼ Zip Jacket – ¼ Zip Jacket is mandatory for Canadian Championships.

 

¼ Zip Jacket never worn tucked in, nor with sleeves pushed up!

 

 Short sleeved plain tee shirts (for wearing under uniform shirt). White undershirts are standard with both shirts. Alternate colours may be worn if crew matches; dark blue shirt – red or navy permitted, powder blue shirt – red or light blue permitted.

 Dark navy blue or black socks

 Black shoes (Hard toe for Fast Pitch or Orthodox Pitch plate umpire) – Always polished!

 Mask with throat protector or extended frame: Compulsory in Fast Pitch and Orthodox, optional in Slo-Pitch

 Black or navy belt

 Inside chest protector (optional in Slo-Pitch)

 1 or 2 Softball Canada crested or uncrested ball bags - dark navy blue (or grey with grey pants only) – 2 may be worn but must match

 Ball and strike indicators (held in left hand) – have a minimum of 2 available

 Rule Book

 Bat ring

 Pen or pencil

 Small note pad

 Small brush for sweeping plate or bases

 Clothes brush

 Shoe polish

 Extra shoe laces

 Equipment bag

 6’ - 8’ tape measure

 

 

Note: Entire umpire game crew must wear the same t-shirt/shirt/pant colour combination. Umpires should always strive to be dressed properly with the official uniform. As an individual, you are representing all of the umpires across Canada. Being well dressed is the best way to make a lasting impression for the players, coaches, fans and spectators. Take the extra time to shine your shoes between games, time permitting.
